:) Hi, sorry for my bad english (i'm french and newbie) ...

So, i would like to install and share my 2 printers with FreeNas 8.0 :

(HP LaserJet1100 Parallel Port only | EPSON Stylus D68 USB)

It is possible ? How to do ?

Thanks a lot (i've not found any informations :()

For precisions : CIFS actived, NAS visible on all my pc. I can see a printer directory icon but not the printers at this moment

Your English is better than some native English speakers ;-)

FreeNAS 8.0 doesn't support printers at this time. I think they may add it later, but for now the the focus is on storage since it is primarily for that purpose. FreeNAS .7 has printer support I believe, but the changes from .7 to 8.x are major and they're just trying to get the important parts of 8.x stable before adding the other features.

It may be possible to add some package from FreeBSD to get your printers to work, but if it is, someone else will have to explain.

bonne chance!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got this working on "shere version 0.71" after reading the following manuals:

http://www.instructables.com/id/FreeNAS_as_a_Print_Server/

95% complete, Ì recall some the directories where to put the scripts were a little different, just check

the command: "Start LPRng" did not work, reboot the PC soon as the "loader.conf" has been adapted, and if the USB is working and the printer attached you allready might see during the boot a message "SCSI .....<Printer in /etc/printcap> (like MP600 in my case) ...comming up there.
Never mind the SCSI message.

http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=usb&sektion
for the installing the USB driver.

http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en/books/handbook/ section Printing

Good luck!
