higher IOPS FreeNAS?

HI
I'm new in FreeNAS.
we want to build network storage for our vmware host.for instant clone,
does more strip hard disk make better IOPS?

or in another word many small hard disk better than couple big hard disk?

Correct.

Use striped mirrors, sufficient RAM, add a SLOG, keep pool usage under 50%.

could you can give me advice abot storage configuration?
comparing with single sas card with 4 ssd sas and 4 sata ssd what do you prefer?

can i plug many sas card in single board?
i never tried before

A computer system board can support as many SAS controllers as it has PCIe lanes, if you want full speed access to the controller. For example, if the board has two x8 PCIe slots, those slots would work for most SAS controllers at full speed. A slot that is only an x4 PCIe slot will not work at full speed as most SAS controllers are x8 electrically. I have used a system with 3 SAS controllers and I know that as many as 4 have been used successfully.
