Hi,

Long time lurker and finally registered to the forum.
I'm a 34 yo electrician from Belgium, have some interest in it, diy, networks.
My skills with freebsd are still limited to copy paste from tutorials but willing to try and learn :)
I'm no great talker, just lurking and listening...

Build my first FreeNAS about 1 year ago.

Code:
Asrock C2750D4I
Kingston Technology 16GB DDR3 1333MHz Kit KVR1333D3E9SK2/16G
6 x Western digital Green 4TB WD40EZRX
Seasonic S12G-450
3x LIAN LI EX-H34SB HDD Frame
MS-TECH CA-0210 Rev. B Case
16GB Sandisk Cruzer Fit

Going to add 6 x 5TB drives one of the next days and after that probably some extra memory.

If you want to know more of me just ask.

You might have trouble with the Marvell SATA ports. Those things are a pain.

There was supposedly work on getting them some new and improved firmware/drivers, but no news of that for a while now.

Welcome Punkfreak!

My skills in BSD and other unix like are also limitted, but actually once it is all setup and working, there seems no need to 'learn' BSD. Or atleast thats how I feel about it...

Also, What specific part of Belgium are you from?

Hi FritVetBE,

I`m from Herselt between Aarschot and Westerlo.

For the jails stuff some bsd knowledge might be handy, have some trouble with it.

Well yea, that was indeed one of the reasons I would start learning FreeBSD. But then I also came in touch with Linux, and have been struggling some time already to decide which i should learn first! :D Though, i wish you lots of fun and good luck on the Jails!
I'll park FreeNAS for now and continue on Linux in general and Cisco!
