Hi All, Jothy from Australia.
Long time lurker first time poster hoping you can help me on my FreeNAS journey.
I work @ the Sydney Children's Hospitals' Network in the eMR unit as an Application manager and spend way too much of my time crunching LOTS of data.
Currently have a home network with...
2 htpc's (i7 4790k 16GB GTX10606TB running as a plex server off my nas, and i5 3317U old vaio duo 13 in my lounge room)
4 laptops (all i7's 6 series or better 8-16GB)
Readygear Ultra 4 bay raid 5 box (4x3gb 8.3GB usable way too old) for media
old work horse as my daily driver (water cooled i7-920 @4.3ghz 24GB 8TB storage GTX1060 6GB all on an Asus P6T deluxe in a HAF932) which is soon to be upgraded to a Ryzen 7 1700 (with 32GB 500GB NVME, 2x1tb SSD Raid0 scratch disk and 6x 2TB WD red Raid10 5.8ish TB usable on as Asrock X370 Taichi, just waiting on the ram to arrive).
Hoping to use a FreeNAS box to replace the Readygear 4 bay and as a back up server for all my PC's and maybe run an XP VM for old skool games so expect lots of questions as i try to get it all right :)
