I've downloaded the latest FreeNAS release file FreeNAS-9.2.1.2-RELEASE-x64.img.xz several times and in every case the hash checksum I get when checking the download does not agree with what is shown on the download page http://www.freenas.org/download-freenas.html.

The download page lists 29f8db55ecf3df59855fade10c85500339d82286f9328ef4ffdefcd7950cee2f as the correct value.

Every download I've done shows the following for the hash value

0e1e1489e8fa16bf6a37c71b17eb29438cb59ae85d2cfb90175c56f7eaf880f1 ?SHA256*FreeNAS-9.2.1.2-RELEASE-x64.img.xz

Trying to determine if there is a problem with my downloads or whether the data shown on the download page is wrong?

Yeah, we know.. iX's web designer is asleep at the wheel.

The correct SHA256SUM for FreeNAS-9.2.1.2-RELEASE-x64.img.xz is 0e1e1489e8fa16bf6a37c71b17eb29438cb59ae85d2cfb90175c56f7eaf880f1.

For future reference, you can always find the files yourself(both download files and checksums) from download.freenas.org.

This should be fixed. If you see something like this again, please create a bug report at bugs.freenas.org.

With the correct checksum I am now getting error
Code:
... [MiddlewareError: The firmware image is invalid, make sure to use .txz file: None]

EDIT:
(I guess I need to rename the download. Also the documentation states that the file extension should be txz.)

No, renaming the image does not help. I get the same error. Are you certain that the image is ok? Installer claims that the SHA on the web page (29f8db55ecf...) is not correct and the SHA in this thread (0e1e1489e8...) leads to an error about invalid image (above)? This seems to be beyond me at the point. I am probably doing something completely silly now.

I am trying to update from 9.2.1-RC -> 9.2.1.2-RELEASE. Maybe I should do the update in smaller increments?

Thanks
-Pete

I was doing something stupid. I tried to download FreeNAS-9.2.1.2-RELEASE-x64.img.xz from the list when I should have hit the banner download on the top that has correct checksum and all.

So problem solved. Note to self: do not try to use FreeNAS-9.2.1.2-RELEASE-x64.img.xz for gui update, use the big green button on the page top :).
