Hello,
I am unfamiliar with terms like "Kerberos", "windbind", and "netbios". I do not use windows although most of my coworkers are on a windows "domain".
My FreeNAS machines are sharing data using CIFS "guest accounts". People are not required to enter a username or password.
Q1: Is it possible for users to enter their windows "domain" username and password in order to access the CIFS shares?
Q2: If so, to set this up on FreeNAS, do I enable "directory services"?
Q3: If so, which do I use: LDAP or AD (or something else?)
Q4: Does the Windows domain administrator need to be involved in this process? Does my FreeNAS machine need to "join" the "domain"? Does my FreeNAS machine itself need a username and password for the domain?
Q5: Which user will ZFS say owns any files created by a user who logged in with his windows "domain" credentials?
Q6: Is it possible for /etc/password to be populated with a list of users from the windows "domain" so that I can setup groups and quotas?
Thank you,
Chris
