Dear Forum,
I use Freenas since two weeks.
In this two weeks the server freeezes two times!
Freenas is installed on a Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB Ram. (No VM!)

When it freezes i cant use the prompt on the screen (i tryed to reboot after the Shares are unavailable). There is no reaction when i type something on the keyboard. Its just freesed.

The terminal in the webGUI tells me:
Oct 26 11:44:45 NAS-SERVER-01 kernel: Trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/ufs/FreeNASs1a

Do I habe any problem?
Whats about "Consider tuning vm.kmem_size and vm.kmem_size_max"???

Hello Mhankemann,

For that processor you should use the AMD64 installation because this is for both AMD and Intel 64bit processors. Also, you should upgrade to 8.0.2. I think this will fix your problem.

Thank you for the solution.

I will do the update in AMD64 Version.

Can I update withour loosing any Data on the data-discs?
I think the Installation will ask me to overwrite the old installation and wont kill the data hdd´s. Isnt it?

Do I have to conf the server again or will it use the old configuration (like LAN, Shares etc)?

Correct, it won't touch your data. I think you should be able to upgrade from i386 8.0.1 to x64 8.0.2 using the GUI upgrade version.

Always take a backup of your current configuration before any upgrade.

If you use the GUI upgrade, it should automatically update your current configuration - if it all goes horribly wrong you'll need to reinstall 8.0.2-RELEASE from the full install image, then upload your old 8.0.1 configuration.

Hy Milhouse,
Hy protosd,

until now the Server seems to be okay.

For everyone with the same problem: it seems to work!
The Server is not up since almost one week without freezing!

Thanks again!
I hope I dont have to ask again about this problem
