FreeNAS 8.0.1 and MegaRaid 8300XLP support

Hi,

We have just got a 2nd hand server and we are looking at putting FreeNAS on this. But FreeNAS 8.0.1 does not see the 8 x 2TB sata drives on the LSI MegaRaid SAS 8300XLP controller. I have read that the later LSI cards require a kernel recompile.

Can anyone assist us with getting this older card working. We've looked and could not find the kernel drivers for FreeBSD.

Any help would be greatful.

The server is a Acer Altos G540 - MegaRaid 8300XLP - 8x2tb.

Sorry about this. We have solved the problem. The motherboard had the MR SAS 8300XLP pci card (3 Gb/s PCI-X SAS Zero-channel RAID Adapter), when we removed the card we could see the drives and see them in FreeNAS.

We did not understand what the SAS controller card was.
