I just came across something today and having an ethernet version I don't want to mess with it. But for someone with an Infiniband version this might be a good thing to try.
https://community.mellanox.com/docs/DOC-1131 -- This post describes how to change the port type (eth, ib) in Mellanox adapters when using MLNX-OFED or Inbox drivers.
Basically it's written for the ConnectX3 but I am wondering if it will work for the ConnectX2 as well.
Not sure if you would need to do this on a windows box or if it will work elsewhere but if it does work it will likely help a few people who ended up with the Infiniband cards.
