I finally had enough of storing data on my own rig and decided to build a nas.
I found a no name x99 board with dual e5-2670v3 with 64g ecc ram and has
2x pcie x16
2x pcie x1
slots which was fine when I was planning my system.
1 x16 for 10gig network and the other would be free and I would only use sata ports for 4x 14 tb exos drives that I have.
Then I managed to find a used no name 24 bay chasis with 6G backplane which has 6x sff-8087 interface...
I'm not really good on the hardware side so my question is that is it possible for me to use the 24 bay case with the said motherboard while having 10g network or should I find another motherboard which has more pcie 8 slots for sas controllers?
I also have enough budget to get a 9305-24i but I don't know if I can use it with the 6G backplane since the card is 12G.
I'm open to all suggestions!
