Do Replication Tasks run in parallel or in series?

What happens when one replication task is about to start if another replication task is already ongoing (i.e. in the middle of transferring a big snapshot)?
Will it try to run both replication tasks in parallel?
Or is it going to wait for the first replication task to finish before starting?
