I have a DNS-320 Sharecenter and I am sick of the 'no support' from DLink and their non-working software. Looking for another solution that may work...Will the FreeNAS work with this unit? If anyone has any experience on this, I would appreciate it.
thanks!

I think the short answer is "No". FreeNas has very specific hardware requirements for example 8gig of Ram.

As a long time user of Buffalo Linkstations that has very similar specs, I can say that they are great until things start going wrong. I broke open two of these units to get my data off it and now those green WD drives are in long term storage in case I need to get more data off. My recommendation would be to read the stickys on this forum and build something that will work for a long time.

Given the ARMv9 CPU and 128MB of RAM, the answer would be no. Alt-F may be an option in the future. You can also extend the DNS-series usability with FFP (FunPlug).

I just retired a DNS-323. I feel your pain.
