Hello everyone
this is my first post, I've read enough for the forum, but just to be clear how to configure my disks, so I ask some advice about it.
I have 5 1TB drives, and do not know which of the following would be the most appropriatesettings:
5x1TB Raidz
3x1TB Raidz , 2x1TB Mirror
I'll use that to give is to network repository of all kinds of files (video, music, documents, ...) as well as drives for ESXi vmware (for ISCSI or NFS).
regards
(sorry for my English)

What about 5x 1TB in a RAID-Z2?

You should read this article: RAID5/RAID-Z1 is dead
A RAID-Z2 is considerably safer for your data. If you are doing regular backups though, you might be ok with a RAID-Z1. It really boils down on how important the data is and how much risk you are willing to take..

Also: A RAID-Z2 yields in the same available space as your proposed RAID-Z + Mirror combination.

I wanted to separate CIFS access to the ESXi ISCSI.
RAID-Z for CIFS, and Mirror for ISCSI ESXi

Sorry, I don't have any experience with ESXi, somebody else can chime in then.

A single mirror won't be great performance. I'd buy a sixth drive and stripe three mirrors in the pool for ESXi.
