i am new to freenas, i have installed and set up via instructions but i can't access the web user interface. after freenas has booted i get the message "you may try the following web urls to access the web user interface http://0.0.0.0/ "

i have my freenas device connected directly to a mac pro via the ethernet port. my mac recognises that there is something plugged into the ethernet port as in the network settings it shows the ethernet port with a yellow light and says 'self-assigned ip' the automatic settings are: configure ipv4 - using dhcp, ip address 169.254.239.199, subnet mask 255.255.0.0

i know i would need to change settings on my mac and or freenas but i am used to network settings working automatically and don't really understand what settings to adjust and use.

can anyone help?

also on a second note, will freenas work with mtu jumbo packets (9000)? i have heard that this setting can make the network connection much faster.

thanks in advance!

Try to connect your freenas to switch or manually specify an ip address.. Also, it'll be better if you can post your hardware as well -- it's possible that you may need to install an NIC driver.

There's a section in the manual that mentions how to enable jumbo packets.
