Can i run software RAID with FreeNAS? Is this a good idea?

I am trying to setup Hight Availability FreeNAS using 2 separate physical NAS servers. Now my question here is i want to use SSD drives and want to use software RAID 1. Is this a good idea to use software RAID in a NAS setup?

Someone please explain and advice.

Yes, that is even the recommended route. FreeNAS uses ZFS, which offers a couple of software RAID options. See http://doc.freenas.org/index.php/Hardware_Recommendations#RAID_Overview

The equivalent option to a RAID 1 would be a ZFS Mirror. If you want to find out more about the reasons of preferring a software RAID, search the forum as this has been discussed several times.
