I've got two freeNAS boxes one of which replicates to a backup box. The backup box is literally just that it receives replicated snapshots on a nightly basis off-site and sits.
On this backup box it currently has 4 WD 6TB reds arranged in a raid z2.
I stupidly let it fill up to the point where replication began to fail. As such I've overnight-ed 4 more 6TB WD reds for delivery tomorrow. Question is, given the pure backup purpose of this box and that I can trivially bring it back on site to a GB Ethernet connection should i expand the pool, or nuke it and start from scratch. And if i nuke it should I go with 8x6TB Z2 or some other raid arrangement.
