This is a typical example where factoring in upgrading strategies. What's your plan after the first vdev is done? When the box is filled in its current configuration, would you rather build a second box or continue getting HBA's / improved case to your present hardware?
Planning ahead is <key> to get a successful marriage to FreeNAS.
