I am running FreeNAS-9.10.2-U5. Problem was present while running FreeNAS-9.10.2-U1 so I upgraded to U5 but that did not fix my plugins. Plugins won't start and not sure what to do. Here are some logs if anyone would like to help me. Thank you! I am running CouchPotato, SickRage, Sabnzbd and PlexMediaServer. No plugin will start. Any help is very appreciated! I realize this is a long paste and I will edit it to the exact error if I can figure out what is wrong so its not so much to read. All plugins are in the same jail and the pbis were uploaded directly to it.

In the jail what happens if you do service plexmediaserver onestart? Did you recently change any permissions of the root dataset?

Thank you for the reply. Running service plexmediaserver onestart yields:

Code:
root@sabnzbd_1:/ # service plexmediaserver onestart
Starting plexmediaserver.
su: pam_start: system error
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/plexmediaserver: WARNING: failed to start plexmediaserver
root@sabnzbd_1:/ #

As far as permissions go, I did change permissions of multiple directories and sub directories maybe a month or so ago due to permission issues I was having with different directories and wanted to change them all at once. Within those sub directories did contain this jail. But this being a month ago and haven't had any problems until now you think this might be the problem? Plugins have been fine and all of a sudden have stopped.

100% positive that you changed the permissions of your jails recursively and that broke all of them. You can't change the permissions of anything under your jail dataset. You should also not be sharing the root of your pool. Create datasets to share.

You will have to rebuild all your jails. People do this all the tine if you search for that Pam error.

Thank you for letting me know. I had not seen the Pam error until I ran that command to start the plugin manually. After I ran the command I thought I might have made a mistake but since it has been working for a month I thought I might have been fine. I will rebuild the jails and the plugins. Without sabnzbd, plex, sickrage, couchpotato running, will it be impossible for me to get backups of those configs before I destroy the jail completely?

All the configs are there in your pool just look for them under the jail dataset.

The ini files seem to be in their respective places:
Code:
/jails/sabnzbd_1/var/db/sabnzbd/sabnzbd.ini
/jails/sabnzbd_1/var/db/couchpotato/settings.conf
/jails/sabnzbd_1/var/db/plexdata/Plex Media Server/Preferences.xml
/jails/sabnzbd_1/var/db/sickrage/config.ini

If I want to preserve the pbis as much as possible, for example, would I need some of the database files that go along with it such as the sickbeard.db that is in the same folder as the config.ini for sickrage? What would I need to copy? Everything in the sabnzbd_1 jail, delete the jail and then copy the data back or will that not work? I also want to make sure when I delete the entire jail I don't delete the data that I have accumulated over the years.

Jails are here:

/mnt/RAID/jails

Source for jail is here:
/mnt/RAID/media
Destination:
/mnt/media

Thanks for your help.

As long as your data lives in a dataset and is mounted into the jail it will be safe when you delete the jail. Probably best to just remove the mount to be sure.

To backup the configs of each jail your going to have to look at each application and maybe add on their forums. The pbi doesn't do anything special except modify the path a little bit.

For example with Plex you want the entire plexdata directory. All you do is copy it into the correct path on the new jail and everything is back to the way it was.

Best to not delete the jail until you have the new one fully working the way you want.
