SOLVED AFP files don inherit permissions

FreeNAS 9.2 to Mac Mavericks. Have a Mac Share (AFP) with Unix 777 permissions. If I copy files to it from my mac, they aren't accessible. If I change permissions on the share and check the recursive box they are read/write. What am I missing?

Changed stuff until it started working. Not sure if it was adding a folder with write privileges for the CNID database, or changing the Umask to 000 or adding a group to the share. Or maybe all of them.
