Howdy folks,

So im running low on SATA Ports on my FreeNAS machine. I was wondering what cards of supported? Would a PCI-E SATA card work? Ive seen that some Marvel cards are not supported? I was looking at

Syba SATA III 4 Port PCI-e x1 Controller Card with Low Profile Brackets https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00AZ9T3OU/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_YiTyAb7MH8PEE

Thanks.

Jack.

Best way is to get a hba card and a forward breakout cable. Sata expanders are usually trash.

Ive seen a lot of people who has said the same.

Im guessing a HBA card is a SAS card? What card would be best? And what about the cable?

Search and check out the hardware sticky thread. It has everything you need to know.

Any LSI/Broadcom/Avago 2008-/2308-/3008-based SAS HBA.

After doing research ive come across a dell h310 card which works but requires to be flashed in my research. Ill pick one of those up.
