So I ordered this board which is propitiatory so I need to make a case for it.
I am thinking of going 1U so I ordered a 700w 1U power supply an intel 530 120g SSD.
I currently have a Ubuntu server running for my file server with 4 3tb Seagates, out of the 8 I have purchased in the last year I have replaced 5 of them and they all have fans directly on the Hard drive. I have 8 RE4 WD drives and none have failed in the past 2 years. So I am thinking about getting WD SE drives, up to 16 in total.

I have not seen much for pictures on this motherboard or anyone using them so this should be interesting!

But Just wondering if any of you have input I am able to do stainless fabrication so lets see what we can come up with :D

Happy Building

this should be interesting!
I agree
I would load it up with drives and memory and test the crap outta it!
If you find no issues, build a custom stainless rack enclosure for it...
How would u cool 16 drives in a 1U without endangering your hearing though?

ASRock has a similar system in 1U but these are limited to 12 drives, going with more gets too deep for most racks (and even the 12 drive variant is really deep).

SuperMicro sadly only sells their version as a prebuilt, the 5018A-AR12L.

It'd probably be awesome for the right tower chassis though.
