So as it states, I have a FreeNAS 9.1 system in place, 6T of storage and I was looking for either fault tolerance, or some type of replication between them.

They are identical in hardware, storage, etc. so I was going to start with just an rsync in a cron, but then saw "add replication tasks", so figured I would hit up the board for real life experience.

I don't know how much I/O it adds, along with any other pitfalls, so can it pretty much do a real time sync, or do I look to create snapshots putting them off on the other box, etc.

I am going to find the doc's and start reading but wanted some real life experience feedback.

Thanks

You didn't list any of your hardware or configuration, so nobody will be able to comment specifically. But it's my understanding that replication is very efficient and highly recommended, if your systems can support it.
