Hello,

I've done some research but cannot seem to find an exact answer. I have started using FreeNAS as my primary storage target for my VMWare lab, but not that ive done this i'm trying to determine my best method of for backup in case of disaster recovery. I see I can configure Azure Blog as a cloud storage provider and build a cloud sync, but from what I can see this is only for data being directly shared and managed by FreeNAS- I cannot see how this would work for block storage.

So my real question here: Is there a way to backup the ZVol or even an entire pool to a cloud provider? If not is this s feature set on the horizon?

Very few cloud providers have native ZFS support. I would recommend using a third party backup solution (eg: Veeam) to backup to files, and then sync those files to a cloud provider. This also gives you the chance to make your backups application-consistent if your backup software can communicate with the guest OS to quiesce I/O when taking the VM snapshot/backup.
