Hi,
who uses wireguard on freenas? I tried to crosscompile it for freenas on ubuntu but that didn't work. Couldn't find packages for freenas

Haven’t tried it yet, but it’s in ports so no need to cross compile https://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports/head/net/wireguard/

I had some success running it within a jail
You can install it with pkg install wireguard

I used VNET and allow_tun enabled in the jail.
I could not get it to access the local network though. Only the jail ip.

Oh that's interesting. Could you please share a little more insight in how you got Wireguard working in a jail?
Even tho I can get it to work under Ubuntu and FreeBSD 12, I can't get it working in FreeBSD 11.2 or a FreeNAS jail.

since the release of 11.3, getting wireguard working has become considerably easier. I posted the instructions a month ago about how to get wireguard working in 2 jails on the freenas subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/freenas/comments/f01p61/i_want_to_try_and_get_wireguard_running_in_a_113/), I also added a bit yesterday that explained how to make the VPN startup when the jail starts up. It is not too difficult.
