Hello,

I am just curious. How can freenas.local resolve to freenas ip in my network, if I am not running any DNS server inside of it?

Kind regards

Are you using DHCP in your network? For example, if your DSL-router is doing DHCP it's usually also running as local DNS server. So it knows the names of the computers it handed out dhcp-leases.

Hello,

I thought about the same, but I have on my pc google dns as dns server, and also configured my router to forward that dns server to my devices in the local network.
I also tried turning off the router while I was testing, but my pc is still able to resolve freenas.local, which makes no sense for me, on how it is doing it.

Kind regards
