I've seen one report of a 9.10 -> 11.3 upgrade going badly. That might just have been browser cache. I am leaning towards browser cache, but if you want to be quite conservative, 9.10 -> 11.2 is a safer bet. If you have any jails, you'll need to change those from warden to iocage (or recreate entirely) once you are on 11.2, before moving to 11.3.

Even more conservative would be 9.10 -> 11.1, then 11.2, then change or recreate jails, then either stay there or decide to move on to 11.3. Note that once you upgrade your pool feature flags in 11.3, you cannot move back to 11.2 no matter what.

I think I will go the conservative route 9.10 -> 11.1 -> 11.2 and stay there for awhile. We all got lots o' time on our hands nowadays :) fiddling around is not a big deal..... Thanks for the heads up!

I just upgraded from 9.2 to 11.2-U8. My path was 9.2 -> 9.2.1.9 -> 9.3 -> 9.10.2 U6 -> 11.2 U1 -> 11.2 U8

The 11.2 U1 was a critical step for me. I tried to go straight from 9.10.2 to 11.2 U8 and was getting an sqllite error during the update: “The upload file is not valid; no such table: django_migtation”. 11.2 U1 resolved that issue, at which point I then upgraded to 11.2 U8.

Hope this helps.

I just got done with the upgrade and took the path 9.10 -> 11.1 -> 11.2
pretty seamless, no troubles at all.

Upgrading from 11.2u7 to 11.3u1 was painless for me, but I did not update ZFS feature flags just in case I need to go back to 11.2. So far, everything has been stable. I did have to clear browser cache to get all the displays to show properly in the GUI (I use Firefox.)

Hello!
I'm new to FreeNAS and inherited a pair of 9.10 devices that I need to set up a testbed for. If someone could please message me the ISO link for 9.10 I'd be really grateful. I want to use the same version that's currently on prod to do dry run testing of a couple drive replacements prior to doing them on prod. I need to get that done before I can upgrade them to current.
Thanks!
