Just install a brand new "FreeNAS-8.0.4-RELEASE-p3-x64 (11703)".
And I cannot find the Plugins setting under Services or other section.
Is the Plugins itself required manually installation?

Thank for any advice!

This is a feature of 8.2, which is currently in BETA awaiting RC status.

the versions went from 8.0.3 to 8.0.4 and the next version is 8.2. its not "officially" out and is a little buggy thats why its not the recommended version when you connect to the main page.

Hi, i have been using various versions of freenas for a long time and i have built a new machine to try Freenas on - i recently upgraded through the GUI to 8.2 p6 so as i could try out the plugin menu. Now whatever i do i have been unable to see the plugin button under services. I have tried with a number of internal ip's as alias but still to no avail. The freenas monitor is showing me both the interface ip and the alias (192.168.2.17 and 192.168.2.30) and i can ping 30. but still no button under services.

Is this because i have upgraded using the GUI, should i download the ISO and try that?

Otherwise Freenas is a wonderful system.

Hi EnthY & Grauniad,

Both of you are running FreeNAS 8.0.4, which doesn't have the plug-in system. It's a bit confusing because FreeNAS 8.0.X & 8.2 are both built on FreeBSD 8.2, which shows up in the "uname" output which is why I gather you think you are running FreeNAS 8.2.

Anyway, read this: http://doc.freenas.org/index.php/Plugins

Remember, to get the plug-ins you need to update to FreeNAS 8.2 (as posted by admin above) first.
