Hi!

My current setup is an Supermicro X11SSL-CF and an Intel Xeon E3-1245-v5.

Recently I realized that my Plex Server, when transcoding, is not using the hardware acceleration provided by the QuickSync feature that the CPU provides.

What do I need to do (in terms of hardware and software) for this to work?

Some questions...

1) Would be necessary to disable the VGA output jumper, like this:

2) Is it true that the C232 chipset of the X11SSL-CF MB doesn't support QuickSync, as said on this thread?

Thanks.
Regards.

Plex on FreeNAS cannot use any video hardware to accelerate transcoding. It is CPU transcode only and we have to say this at least twice a week every week. That is just how it is. Sorry.

Use Windows or Linux instead.

Plex doesn't support hardware acceleration when running inside VMs or Dockers.

Is that the reason why FreeNas doesn't support it also? Is it because Plex runs in a jail?

It would be a limitation, but a more fundamental problem is a lack of support for these things on FreeBSD.
