Hello geeks,

Tried to update through the UI, at some point it rebooted and got hung. Console was black, numlock steady (crashed).
Tried to reboot and got this :-(

I use two identical USB sticks in cluster. And I saved the configuration (without the master seed).

Any hint on how to proceed ?

Thanks!

You can try to remove one or the other boot devices. If neither action solves your problem, reinstall to new media, preferably SSD, and import your config. You'll need to re-enter your passwords for things like email.

Ok, just to close that topic, both of the USB sticks were kind of erased during upgrade.

From the EFI loader with any of the sticks in, lszfs freenas-boot gives one single file:
/ROOT/default

There are no config files, snapshots, kernels, whatever.

I'm toasted and after reinstall, I will never ever upgrade again

Can't imagine why your boot USB sticks would have been erased. However, you haven't lost any data - and that's the main thing. If you don't have a backup of your configuration, then you will have to set up your FreeNAS options again after the reinstall. Annoying, yes... but not the end of the world.

Lesson... Back up your configuration.
