Hello

I thinking of installing FreeNas but I have some question which I didn’t find an answer.

I hope somebody able to answer it.

  1. Do I able to change the listening IP address for SSH, RSYNC, HTTPS …. (not leaving in 0.0.0.0)?
  2. I think I will able to configure vlan trunk interface with a separated O&M , iSCSI …. Vlan?
  3. Can I able to run GIT, syslog ... docker container?

Thank you

Hi @ebalcsk

FreeNAS is not meant for network security. It is recommended to deploy it behind an actual firewall like pfSense. That one will do the filtering you are looking for, and even more.

I think I will able to configure vlan trunk interface with a separated O&M , iSCSI …. Vlan?

Indeed, you can configure VLANs in FreeNAS and do it from the WebUI.

Can I able to run GIT, syslog ... docker container?

You can create VMs in FreeNAS, including a Linux one that will run Docker. Docker will not run natively, directly in FreeNAS.

Thank you for your answer.
So i only need to dig more for the LISTENING issue.

Yes of course i will put a firewall in front of it, but i really want to limit services to which port to listen on. If it is possible to change from some file from /etc i don't mind to do it that .
