SOLVED SMB not starting 11.2 U8

Hello,

I have the following problem my freenas server was working fine but after restarting the SMB server it did not start automatically and the manual attempt to start the service only indicates that SMB could not start. Really new to Freenas so I have no idea what I'm doing.

I you type in command smbd -d 5 -i it should give some indication about why we're failing to start.

What I can see is that in server role = 'active directory domain controller' it does not support running asmbd standlone, you have to start 'samba' instead, and go will control the start of smbd if necessary

But I try to start samba but it tells me that it is starting but it does not start

service samba_server start

performing sanity check on samba configuration: ok
starting samba

service samba_server status

samba is not running

This means you have accidentally enabled the "domain controller" service. Disable it.

No. You have "start automatically" checked, which is equivalent to "enabled". This feature is removed in 11.3 so hopefully the unclear terminology is excusable.

How did you try restarting SMB? Did you toggle the GUI switch for SMB service?
