Hallo together,

i have an issue with smb Multichannel.
My Config is Freenas 11.2 U5 on a xeon 1246v3 with 32gb ram and 2 Intel 210 NIC.

Everything is working fine I have no Speed Problems or else.
Only when I sharing over SMB to a Windows 10 Machine

The problem I can sent from a Windows 10 Machine to the FreeNAS Server with full Speed 226mb/s alll the way.
Backward when i pull from the Freenas Server to the same Windows Machine i get only 113mb/s so the second channel is not in use.

When I copy between 2 Windows 10 Machines i have also the full speed 226mb/s in both ways.

Only when windows is Pulling from Freenas then I get only one channel.
When sending from Windows to FreeNAS then I have both Channels.

Did anybody have the same issue and how i can resolve this Problem.

I activated on Freenas Multichannel for SMB =yes in the Config for Samba.

Hallo HoneyBadger,

thanks for the advice
I reconfigured the interfaces on Freenas and Windows 10

FreeNAS LAN1 192.168.178.43/255.255.255.0 DHCP Windows LAN1 192.168.178.42 DHCP
FreeNAS LAN2 192.168.179.200/255.255.255.0 Static Windows LAN2 192.168.179.201 Static

reboot both Machines and i have in pulling und sending full Speed with both channels 226mb/s
Problem resolved thank you very much.

Is there an other solution like in Windows Networks with same IP Adress Range
This way I have to Change from all Windows Machines the second IP to an other IP Range to get SMB Multi Channel for working.

I my Network this isnt a problem because i Have only 5 Machines with Dual LAN so this is easy to handle.
I use this config for Backup to the FreeNAS Machine is a bit faster with Dual Channel.

Thanks again
