Slow write speed

Hey i'm very new to Freenas i built my systems only few days ago. I have been transferring data from my PC to my NAS and only get about 40MBps writes. I was hoping if someone can help me find out what is wrong with my config as i'm fairly certain i should be seeing higher write speeds. I have run the ipconfig command and the "1000baseT <full-duplex>" has been detected. Could it be an issue with my cables?

I am also suspect that the read speeds are also having the same issue however i can't fully identify for certain as i don't know how to test the read speeds.

Thanks in advanced

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1230v6
Motherboard: Supermicro X11SSL-F

i also did a iperf test which falls in line to the speeds i'm getting

Code:
root@freenas[~]# iperf -s 192.168.1.10
iperf: ignoring extra argument -- 192.168.1.10

Seriously? so if i was plugged straight in i would get close to the 1Gb speed? If so its not really possible for me to keep my machine wired as the router is in another room and as much as i would like to i am unable to directly attach a cable from there so should i run power line or is it not worth?

300mbps over wireless is excellent, you can't really do much better.
