Trying to set up FreeNAS 9.2.1 BETA on a recently built mini-ITX tower.
I've successfully gotten the .img file onto an 8 GB USB and the tower is correctly booting from the USB.
However I am unable to manually set the IP address from the Console Menu.
Per the documentation, "Initial Setup", example 2.5a, when I get to the step:
IPv4 Address: 192.168.1.108/24

I get "Saving interface configuration: Failed". It then returns to the Console Menu, gives me the 1-11 list, and states:
"
You may try the following URLs to access the web user interface:
http://0.0.0.0”.

I do not know how to reach /var/log/msg.

mobo: ASRock E350M1 AMD E-350 APU, RAM: 8 GB, USB flash: 8 GB Sandisk, HDD: Seagate Barracuda 3 GB
Mini-ITX is connected via ethernet cable to my router.

Rather than use the beta, try using the latest "release" version.

You can view /var/log/messages, by choosing option 9 on the console menu to get to the shell.

(1) gpsguy: Thanks for the Shell info.
(2) Are both dlavigne & gpsguy suggesting I use the "Nightly Release"?
(3) I'm hoping that paying for & downloading Keka wasn't pointless. (got it from the Mac app store because I wanted to be open source supportive)

I was going to use the Current Stable Release 9.2.0 but I didn't see documentation instructions for how to write .ISO to USB on Mac.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I am assuming the following are true:
(a) I will have to reformat the USB in Disk Utility

UPDATE:
**********
Downloaded the Current Stable Release .ISO
Used Keka to unpack the file
located the .img.xz file within the unpacked folder
unpacked the .img.xz file and then proceeded to use the resulting .img to place onto the USB.
Placed USB back into the mini-ITX tower, followed the "Initial Setup" documentation, it has an IP address now.
Tried to access it via browser, page won't open.
Tried to ping from Terminal on OS X, request times out.
ping: sendto: Host is down
Request timeout for icmp_seq 570
I suppose I will search for the answer to that dilemma or open a new thread.

Sorry about posting this here to begin with. Forum rules clearly state this is for guides & HowTo ONLY. In my late-night fatigue I neglected to see that.
