I'm looking to build a dedicated NAS and will likely combine it with HTPC. I got mATX board, CPU, and bunch of SAS drives (Got HBA as well).
I'm aware of new Silverstone CS381 case which matches requirement perfectly but it's quite expensive ($350). I like Node 804 case but it will be a big mess (data+power cables).I wanna avoid all the cable mess and ideally would like to get adapter (5.25"=> 4x3.5") with backplane. Ideally with single MiniSAS-HD and single power (per for 4 drives).
Are there any backplanes that I can get? I was thinking about using HP/Dell cages - comes with backplane with mini SAS connector but it ain't cheap ($150 for cage).
