Hey everyone,

I am happily running iSCSI off my FreeNAS to my own Windows and Linux boxes.

I'm trying to let a user with a Macbook running the latest version of OS X connect to this iSCSI share. I googled "mac os x iscsi" and found some very outdated info so i am asking here now.

Will an initiator be required on that Macbook? If it's not fairly straightforward to set up, would i be better off setting up an AFP share to the same location the iSCSI drives are at? I haven't used a Mac since the PPC days, so I don't know if a setup like this would screw everything up.

Thanks in advance.

I have no experience with iSCSI. Synology reference Studio Network's globalSAN iSCSI initiator in their manual. It has a 14-day trial period, so you could try that.

Otherwise an SMB share is probably the best bet. Apple is moving away from AFP.
