Hi all,

First of all apologies if I've posted in the wrong section.

I've finished building my FreeNAS box and I want to transfer my files from my Synology ds212j to my new FreeNAS server.

I've read that rsync is the fastest way to do this, and I've run the commands and everything is fine.

The devices are networked at 1Gbps and should have taken 11 hours to copy the 5TB of data, however the problem is with the Synology NAS having a rather modest ARM processor.
The CPU is maxed out and the transfer is running at a max 6MBps, which will take 11 days lol.

Is there no other way to migrate the data such as just plugging in the Synology HDD into the FreeNAS and migrating the files that way?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

For anyone interested:

I have an old sandy bridge desktop which I used to boot Ubuntu live USB and plugged in the Synology disk.
From there I mounted the disk and used rsync which is now running at 0.9Gbps
