Restore deleted dataset

When you destroy a dataset, it destroys all snapshots of that dataset too, so that leaves backups (if you have them).

zpool checkpoints could help with this issue in the future. Not sure if they are around in the latest FreeNAS version as I'm still running 11.1-U7 on all my boxes.

Checkpoints are here, but there's no automated system to take them as far as I can see, so you would have needed to take one manually before deleting the dataset to have the right checkpoint to go back to.

In short, yes. The zfs destroy command sounds ominous for a good reason.
