Hi All,
I'm new to FreeNAS and am having a good time working out all the ins and outs of the OS/setup.
Everything seems to be going mostly OK.

I've got one issue at present, after a bit of messing around trying to do it the wrong way, I finally figured out how to import the data off an NTFS formatted disk, so that is working OK now.
However, when the import is finished and I unplug the USB drive, I get errors / alerts saying the system can't to talk to the device anymore. (e.g. Device: /dev/da1 [USB JMicron], unable to open ATA device)

Is there something else I'm meant to be doing between finishing the import and unplugging the drive?
The User Guide says that after the import it should unmount the drive, so I should be right to disconnect it.
Right??

First, welcome to the forum! Second, thank you for reading the user guide!

You could verify teh drive is no longer mounted but running the mount command and looking for your disk. The guide does not say but it should be mounting read only so even if the disk is not dismounted, you have no risk of damaging the data.

You may consider filling a bug report.
