I have a CIFS share. When I transfer large files 11G + to the NAS, it hangs and crashes.

I use latest 8.04

anyone familiar? is it a hardware issue?

thanks

Sounds pretty familiar. Are you running a RAID-Z or Z2 on a 32bit install of FreeNAS by chance?

switch to either :
64 bits hardsware and the 64-bits version of freenas or
( you may keep your zfs disks including their contents)
use ufs instead of zfs
( you have to copy all data )

A big ole ++ to either of these two options. 64bit processors are pretty common these days. Are you sure your hardware isn't 64bit capable?

Alternately you can read my post about running ZFS on a 32bit install with low memory. It has worked in some cases, not in others. I'd really recommend going 64bit if it is possible.
