I am trying to SSH into my system with putty but It keeps telling me my root password is wrong. I am assuming the password that putty is looking for is the same user and password that I use to login to FreeNAS GUI from my desktop. Is this correct or is there something I am missing or just stupid.

Thanks

Did you set FreeNAS to allow root login by SSH? It is off by default.

Yes, it was enabled. When I try to login via Putty, I enter "root" for user and the same password I use to login to the FreeNAS GUI with "root" and the user also. Thanks for the quick reply

I already tried that and it did not work, but once I rebooted the server it now works. Go figure. As always, thanks for your timely replies. Bob Ivey

Probably just needed to stop and restart the service.
