I ran into a problem at installation of FreeNAS 11.2 U5 (or U7). It says

(cd0:umass-sim2:2:0:0): Error 6, Unretryable error
......
(Like attached)

Anyone can help is greatly appreciated!

Hardware: motherboard - MSI Z370 A PRO; 6 SATA HDDs 2*500G, 2*2T, 2*4T, all WD. Two 16G ScanDisk USB drive. External CD/DVD for OS installation.

Looked at BIOS, all HDDs recognized.

I previously installed FreeNAS 11.2 onto a used HP desktop with 2 HDDs without any problem. I got really confused this time. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Looks like a problem with the USB stick (perhaps the one you're installing from).

Maybe try a different key?

Well cd0 would probably be the external CD drive , so what @sretalla said for the installation dvd;)
Maybe an issue with Bios UEFI/Legacy mode or USB support if you're sure the disc is ok?

I am not sure ... Those USB sticks are "SanDisk Cruzer Fit 32 GB, USB Flash Drive SDCZ33-032G-B35". They are brand new. You mean to try another USA sticks?

What install media are you using?

Thanks to @Rand and @sretalla. Yes, the cd0 is pointed to my external CD Drive.

I changed to use another USB Flash Drive, use imgUSB to write the iso image from freeNAS.org, it works now.

Thank you!
