Anyone have a "how to" for installing an ossec agent?
FYI: any documentation out there, regarding "how to install to linux" is for linux, not Debian and definately not the hamstrung version of debian platforming Freenas.

  • Debian is a distribution of Linux
  • FreeNAS runs under FreeBSD, not Linux
  • FreeNAS has never run under any version of Linux

FreeNAS isn't a Debian or Linux platform. It is an offshoot of FreeBSD, a true UNIX derivative OS with clear lineage all the way back to AT&T.

FreeNAS isn't designed to have other things installed into it. It might possibly be something that could be done to get an OSSEC agent to run on it, as OSSEC does appear to be compatible with FreeBSD, but this isn't recommended or supported.
