Hello @All
I'm currently in the process of upgrading my server PC by moving it from a normal high tower to a U4 case and i figured i would move on from my current hardware raid setup at the same time and move to FreeNAS. The U4 case will likely be the X-Case EXtra Value RM 424 which has room for 24 hdds and i figured i might aswell prepare with hardware that can support that many drives if need be.
My motherboard is a Intel S2600CP2J equipped with 128GB DDR3-ECC RAM running Windows Server 2016 with Hyper-V.
I figured i will go with 3x 8-port HBA cards due to favourable pricing compared to the 16-port alternatives and i browsed through the hardware recommendation guide and found suitable candidates.
LSI SAS 9211, SAS 9240, SAS 9207 & Dell H200/H310.
My question is if any or all of these cards will work with Hyper-V passthrough and FreeNas, does anyone here have any experience with such? An alternative would be using ESXi but since i have the Datacenter edition of server i'm inclined to use it for the free hyper-v windows activations that it brings.
Suggestions and ideas are welcome :)
