Hello all!

I've been searching for a way to expand my pool to use all 8 of my drives.

I've tried expanding the pool with the 3 drives.

Before I click expand, I see a message that says "WARNING: Adding data vdevs with different numbers of disks is not recommended. First vdev has 5 disks, new vdev has 3. "
After clicking expand, I get a a message that says "WARNING: Adding data vdevs with different numbers of disks is not recommended. First vdev has 5 disks, new vdev has 3. You are trying to add a virtual device consisting of 3 device(s) in a pool that has a virtual device consisting of 5 device(s)"

Any ideas on how I can get this task accomplished?

Thanks in advance!

Are you actually trying to add a second vdev?

There is no way to expand a vdev with data in it. You would need to move all your data out of the pool, then destroy the existing pool and create a new pool that included all eight drives.

I realized as the alert came in that I forgot to tell you about my system...

But, you answered my question in the first post.

Thank you!
