My Free Nas Project!

So this will be my first official freenas build i am hopeing....

• The Brain : G4560 - 3.50Ghz
• The Body : Asus H110M-A / M.2
• Memory : 8 GB DDR4
• The Sexy Bits :
• 8 Port SATA-II PCIe 4x RAID HighPoint RocketRaid 2320
• Samsung Evo 970 500GB M.2
• Hard Drives : 12 Drives In Total x4 2tb, x4 4tb, x4 8tb Drives

The 8GB DDR4 is only for starters i do intent to upgrade the system memory to 32GB DDR4 in 2 months time if all works out of course.

So one question remains will freenas work with RocketRaid 2320 running in JBBOD ?. or will i have issues ?

IBM 46M0918 M5014 SAS SATA Express 2.0 x8 256M Cache CONTROLLER.

Not exactly off the recommended firmware list.

Do you already have the parts? Because if you don't there are better choices to be made, e.g.

What's this for?

IBM 46M0918 M5014 SAS SATA Express 2.0 x8 256M Cache CONTROLLER.

You might be able to use this controller if you disable cache and configure drives as JBOD.

You don't need such high performance (and relatively expensive) SSD as a boot drive. A cheap small SATA SSD is a better choice.
