I am migrating a box where I managed to install Trident RC2, following some update guidance.

At one point, I am issuing the command "trueos-update check, it fails :

Updating the pkg database

pkg-static : Repository Trident load error: access repo file (/var/db/trueos-update/pkgdb/repo-Trident.sqlite) failed: No such file or directory

pkg-static: http://pkg.project-trident.org/pkg/release/FreeBSD:12:amd64/latest/meta.txz: Not Found

pkg-static: http://pkg.project-trident.org/pkg/release/FreeBSD:12:amd64/latest/packagesite.txz: Not Found

[...]

Unable to update repository Trident...

My connection is working, if you ask.
Not sure to understand the issue though I am sure it's obvious!

Any hint?

Yess, I believe a lot of work has been done since RC2 but interestingly enough, the RC2 is the last version which is known to recognize my USB mouse at installation time.

I have tried versions from 19.03 to 19.07 and each time, I am stuck on the first page, keyboard seems to work but mouse doesn't.

Display is not operational: the installed Nvidia drivers don't support my graphics card and I am advised to install the Nvidia 340.xx legacy driver.

Is there some way to install them, even manually, so I can give you the requested output (having X running)?

I would be pleased to but I am not sure of what has to be done. Do have I to update some pointer information to track unstable (rather than stable) or to re-download an ISO ?

Well, I can't burn ISOs any more since my current installation doesn't carry any mkisofs/growisofs distribution. I need to burn on another machine.

I need to give it a try but is it necessary, as I read it, to rename the *.iso in *.img before writing down the file to the key ?

Plug the drive in and identify the USB drive's device name with camcontrol
# camcontrol devlist

Write the image to the drive:
# dd if=TrueOS-Unstable-x64-20190717.iso of=/dev/da0 bs=64m

If you have an hybrid machine - with two video card - Nvidia GPU and for example Intel IGPU (integrated or discrete card) combo, than try the next Trident intall without Nvidia driver - delete the "X" from the quadrant of the Nvidia driver and leave all of Nvidia drivers empty on the graphical installer of the Trident, the "X" of the legacy intel driver will be undeletable.

I managed to start X and to run Trident RC2 successfully with a fully working mouse.

I didn't manage to bootstrap the installation with USB keys. Once inserted, my USB devices (I have tried with two different ones) seem to cause the system infinite sync retries (see attached screen capture) and consequently they are not booted properly.

I still need to take the time to try TrueOS-unstable to check how the mouse behaves. Maybe buying a modern USB mouse, known to work with recent BSD, could also make the trick.

I am also looking for an alternate way to update my system without burning/installing the latest available version, the thing is that my pkg check /update combo seems to be broken (first post of this current thread)!
