I spun up a really big Virtual Machine in my VMware environment running FreeNAS 8.0.3-p1.

- 24GB of RAM
- 15x2TB FC Drives (28TB RaidZ Pool)
- 8x2.66 vCPUs
- 4xGbit NICs

I do not run Cisco 1000V but rather standard VMware DV Switches on vSphere 4.1.

While I am getting 150+MB/sec on a single NIC via NFS - I would like to bind the 4 NICs (or more) into a lagg for even more performance. I know my drives and config can do it, the network is the bottleneck here for sure.

Reading around the web, I found that DV Switches do not support LACP or FEC.

I tried using Load Balance and Round Robin, however, when I add my NICs in this type of a config, my PING returns a lot of dupes, and MOUNT command won't actually mount the NFS target.

Any suggestion/help/advise would really help. I would like to have more than 1Gig interface for this box - therefore binding the NICs seems like my only solution.

Thanks in advance!

I think you need use a switch that supports LACP or EtherChannel in order to use LAGG on FreeBSD, whether it is virtual or physical.
