Hi, Professionals.

I think this kind of issue had been posted to in this forums before, but I couldn't hit the key point.
So let me ask a question to you guys...

Now, I have gotten following messages.

interrupt storm detected on "irq16:"; throttling interrupt source

And I tried to find which IRQ was. Then, it was as follows.

interrupt total rate
irq1: atkbd0 5 0
irq16: fwohci0++ 4397485 4

I didn't find what fwohcio++, but it will be related with AHCI??

I appreciate if you get me a some hints..

Hardware? FreeNAS version? Any details regarding your issue?

Hi,

Here is the hardware and software environment.

1. MB: ASRock Z67 Professional
2. Mem: 16GB (Crucial non ECC)
3. CPU: i-7 2700k
4. WD RED 3Tx6 with RAID-Z2 (RAID6)
5. FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201509282017

I actually didn't do anything and so did the system.

Well, my first guess is some hardware on your system is misbehaving (that is, by definition, what an IRQ storm is). You're on desktop hardware, which almost certainly has stuff that isn't necessarily compatible with FreeNAS. Even disabling it in the BIOS won't save you from these potential problems.

In the meantime, IRQ storms are bad because it can hurt your system's performance, and there is no fix except to troubleshoot to find the offending hardware and remove it. In your case, if history is any indicator, it's almost certainly on-board and there's almost certainly no fix except to get new hardware.

Your problem is the classic tell-tale reason why we tell people not to buy desktop stuff and use it. It's not appropriate and it can cause problems. You may or may not experience instability from this too, and there may or may not be consequences for services you are using. If you start having more severe problems it could jeopardize your zpool.

Good luck and let us know if you need help.
