How to replace the boot USB?

After a failed attempt to update to 11.2-U2.1, I tried again, but I was notified I couldn't because it already was available. So I activated it in the Boot tab to boot from it. But when I restarted the server, I got:
/etc/rc.conf.local: /usr/bin/mktemp: not found
/etc/rc.conf.local: cannot create : No such file or directory
Enter full pathname of shell or RETURN for /bin/sh:

I probably have an incomplete update and I assume I need to replace the boot USB or at least the software on it. But how do I do that? I do have a recent settings DB-file.

What are you using for boot media? Assuming it is a USB stick, if you have a couple of spare sticks laying around, you can prepare a fresh copy of the boot media. Just follow the instructions in the User Guide https://www.ixsystems.com/documentation/freenas/11.2/install.html#preparing-the-media

It will be helpful if you provide details of your FreeNAS hardware, software and pool configuration in your signature block.

Roll back to the previous boot environment then delete the bad boot environment.
